Three from Buttermilk Village is an animated movie released in Russia in 1978. The story is about a young boy, nicknamed Uncle Fyodor due to his serious demeanor. The boy leaves home with a stray cat, that talks, because his mother won't let him keep the cat. Uncle Fyodor and his cat, along with a friendly dog head out on their own. The three end up living in Buttermilk Village. There, they have many adventures involving locals of the small hamlet. The movie's sharp and witty dialogue appeals to adults as well as children. Some everyday expressions used in Russia came from the film.
