Thunder in the Sun is a 1959 Western starring Susan Hayward and Jeff Chandler. The story is set in California in Gold Rush years of the 1850s. It is about a family of French Basque immigrants on their way West. Along the way they encounter Indian trouble as well as personal problems. A complicated love triangle is one of the central themes in the movie. Film critics praised the film for its cinematography, story and action scenes. The film, however, was criticizes for its misunderstandings of Basque customs and culture. Fans of strong and intriguing Westerns will appreciate Thunder in the Sun.
