Treachery is a 2013 suspense thriller directed by Travis Romero, starring Michael Biehn, Matthew Ziff, and Caitlin Keats. The movie focuses on a family vacation gone wrong as a group of old friends reunite on a secluded ranch. The film takes place over a single night and utilizes flashbacks to reveal the complicated history between the group.

The story begins with the arrival of the friends, Michael (Michael Biehn) and his wife, Elaine (Jennifer Blanc-Biehn), their daughter, Sadie (Sarah Butler), and friends, Shawn (Matthew Ziff), his girlfriend, Missy (Christina Vidal), and Tyler (J.T. Jackson). Upon arrival, the group is greeted by Hank (Richard Gunn), a ranch hand employed by Michael and Elaine. After exchanging pleasantries, the group explores the surrounding area, but the evening soon turns unpleasant as the group becomes trapped in an unstable situation.

One of the main themes of the movie is the tension and betrayal between the characters. As the night progresses, secrets are revealed and alliances are tested. The biggest wedge in the group is between Michael and Shawn, who have a tumultuous history due to Shawn's involvement with Michael's ex-wife. The relationship between the two is strained from the beginning and only becomes more complicated as the night goes on.

Director Travis Romero expertly builds tension throughout the movie, creating an intense atmosphere that keeps the viewer on the edge of their seat. The setting is utilized to its fullest as the remote location heightens the sense of isolation and helplessness in the characters. The score, created by Cody Westheimer, contributes to the suspense and unease felt by the viewer.

The performances of the cast are a highlight of the movie, particularly Michael Biehn as the patriarch of the group. Biehn delivers a complex and nuanced performance, expertly conveying the character's conflicting emotions and motivations. Matthew Ziff also shines as the troubled Shawn, imparting a sense of desperation and vulnerability to the character.

Caitlin Keats delivers a standout performance as Rachel, Michael's ex-wife, who appears in the form of hallucinations and flashbacks. Keats is captivating in her portrayal of a woman haunted by her past mistakes and her strong connection to Michael.

Overall, Treachery is a compelling thriller that delivers on the suspense and tension promised by its premise. Travis Romero's directing, coupled with strong performances from the cast and an atmospheric score, makes for a thrilling movie experience. The reveal of the betrayal and motivations of the characters will keep the viewer guessing until the very end.
