Trespassers is a 2018 horror/thriller movie directed by Orson Obolowitz that follows the story of two couples, Sarah (Angela Trimbur) and her boyfriend Joseph (Zach Avery), and Estelle (Janel Parrish) and her husband Victor (Jonathan Howard). They all decide to rent a beautiful and isolated desert mansion located in Joshua Tree for a relaxing weekend getaway.

The movie starts with the two couples arriving at the house, where they meet the caretaker, who gives them the keys and warns them not to stray too far from the house because of the dangerous coyotes in the area. Their first night at the house, however, is not as peaceful as they hoped. They hear strange noises and a woman’s scream outside, but when they investigate, they find nothing.

The next day, Sarah and Joseph decide to go for a hike in the desert, while Estelle and Victor stay at the house to relax. As Sarah and Joseph are on their way back, they stumble upon a drugged-out little girl who appears to be lost. They take her back to the house to call for help, but when they arrive, they find the house has been broken into and ransacked. Soon they realize that they are not alone: there are two masked intruders, played by Carlo Rota and Fairuza Balk, inside the house with them.

What initially seems like a typical home invasion quickly escalates into something more sinister, as the intruders begin to torment and torture the four vacationers. As the night unfolds, it becomes clear that the intruders have a hidden agenda and that staying alive will be a challenge for everyone involved.

Throughout the movie, the tension builds with every scene, and the audience is kept guessing as to what is really going on. As the intruders’ motives are slowly revealed, the characters are forced to confront their own secrets and past mistakes. The movie takes a surprising turn in the third act, with a twist that will keep viewers on the edge of their seats until the very end.

The acting in Trespassers is strong, particularly by Angela Trimbur and Janel Parrish, who both give nuanced performances as the two female leads. Carlo Rota and Fairuza Balk also do an excellent job as the menacing intruders. The cinematography is another highlight of the movie, showcasing the beautiful and eerie landscape of the Joshua Tree desert.

One of the themes explored in the movie is the idea that no one is quite who they seem to be. The characters are all flawed in some way and have their own secrets and hidden motives. As the night progresses, they are forced to confront their demons and may not like what they see.

Overall, Trespassers is a solid horror/thriller movie that will appeal to fans of the genre. It is well-paced, suspenseful, and features strong performances from its cast. The desert setting adds an eerie atmosphere to the movie and the twist at the end will leave viewers surprised and satisfied.

Trespassers is a 2019 horror movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 28 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.9 and a MetaScore of 42.
