Trouble in Store is a classic British comedy film from 1953, directed by John Paddy Carstairs, and starring Norman Wisdom, Margaret Rutherford, and Moira Lister. The film follows the misadventures of a bumbling department store worker, Norman Pitkin, as he tries to prove himself and save his job. Norman Pitkin, played by Norman Wisdom, is a lowly delivery boy at a large department store in London. He dreams of becoming a window dresser and impressing his boss, the pompous Mr. Grimsdale, played by Edward Chapman. However, his clumsy and accident-prone nature always seems to get in the way.

Trouble begins when the store's accounts are found to be off by a considerable amount. The store's owner, Mrs. Appleby, played by Margaret Rutherford, decides to investigate the matter and sends her niece, Susan, played by Moira Lister, to work undercover in the store to find the culprit.

Susan takes a job in the store's lingerie department, but her efforts to uncover the thief are constantly thwarted by Norman's bungling. Norman mistakes her for a new staff member and tries to help her, but only ends up causing chaos and embarrassment.

Throughout the film, Norman has a series of hilarious mishaps, including accidentally breaking a priceless vase and getting locked in a safe. However, he never loses his determination to prove himself and save his job.

As Norman and Susan become closer, they team up to uncover the truth behind the missing funds. With the help of an eccentric inventor, played by Jerry Desmonde, and a pair of hapless burglars, Norman and Susan set out to catch the thief and clear Norman's name.

The film is filled with classic slapstick humor, as well as witty one-liners and clever sight gags. Norman Wisdom's physical comedy is a real highlight, as he throws himself around the store, causing mayhem at every turn.

Margaret Rutherford is also excellent as the no-nonsense Mrs. Appleby, who is determined to get to the bottom of the missing money. Moira Lister is charming as Susan, who initially believes Norman to be the thief but soon realizes his true nature.

Overall, Trouble in Store is a delightful comedy film with a heartwarming message about the power of determination and self-belief. Norman Wisdom is a joy to watch, and the supporting cast is equally excellent. The film is a must-see for fans of classic British comedy and anyone in need of a good laugh.
