Starring Richard Burton, Ian McShane, T. P. McKenna and Donald Sinden and directed by Michael Tuchner, Villain is a 1971 gangster film. Vic Dakin is a gang leader in London’s East End plotting his newest heist: ambushing a plastics factory van full of worker’s wages. Dakin is as ruthless as he is paranoid, killing one of the men in his criminal empire for flapping his gums. The plot thickens further as Dakin threatens members of Parliament who like kinky sex in an attempt to extort money. Dakin, interestingly enough, also dabbles in the same pond with his partner in crime, Wolfe. When a stomach ulcer sends Edgar, one of Dakin’s crew to the hospital, Scotland Yard Police Inspector Matthews singles him out in an attempt to gain information about the gang’s crimes. Can Dakin get to Edgar before Matthews gets him to sing? Villain is gritty and exciting, and will have you on the edge of your seat.
