This collegiate drama stars Brendan Fraser as Monty Kessler, an uptight graduate who's working on his dissertation at Harvard. When he loses the hard copy of his thesis, he finds it in the possession of a homeless man, Simon Wilder (Joe Pesci). Desperate to get his thesis back, Monty brings Simon into his home (much to the chagrin of his roommates, played by Moira Kelly, Patrick Dempsey, and Josh Hamilton). The deal? For every one day of food and shelter Monty provides, Simon will return one page of his thesis. As Monty learns more about Simon's life, he is forever changed by the lessons the older man has to impart in this heartwarming tale of what is truly important. Far from being overly preachy, however, the film has many comedic elements, particularly due to Pesci's unique and heartfelt portrayal of Simon.
