Tom plans to go on a fishing trip with Woody but is forced to change his plans when he receives a job offer from Megan. Though he's unsure whether he should take it, selling an article to a prestigious magazine would be the break he's been waiting for.

Meanwhile, George has started to loosened up a little and decides it's time to breathe some life back into Weld. The remote little town has suddenly been the perfect place to relax and enjoy life, but he thinks it's time for everyone to have some fun. However, his plans quickly go awry when a minor blunder becomes a major disaster.

As if things couldn't get any worse, Jan and Jesse's relationship starts to turn complicated when Jesse begins to question Jan's commitment to their shared dream. She's happy with the life they've built and isn't sure if she's ready to make a massive commitment, but Jesse is willing to risk it all for their future.

Meanwhile, Shay struggles to come to terms with the fact that her brother is leaving. She spends most of her time avoiding the fact that there's going to be a vast hole in her life, but with Arlo about to board a plane, Shay is going to have to confront her feelings.

As the day of Arlo's departure grows closer, it becomes apparent that everyone is dealing with their problems in a different way. Some are struggling, while others are finding ways to move forward. But as they all face their issues and challenge themselves, they must learn to lean on each other for support.

In episode 2 of 800 words season 3, we watch as the townspeople of Weld face challenges both big and small, and they must come together to overcome them. The episode focuses on the characters, their strengths, weaknesses, and how they deal with the obstacles that life throws their way.
