Ep 3. The Searchers

The Searchers is the third episode of the third season of 9-1-1. The episode starts with Athena's daughter, May, getting into a van with her friends, but they get into a car accident, which leaves May and her friends trapped inside the vehicle. Meanwhile, the 118 is responding to a call about a missing child, and the team, including Buck, Chimney, and Eddie, scramble to find the child while dealing with their own personal struggles.

As Athena rushes to the hospital to be with May, the 118 locates the missing child in a nearby forest. However, the child is completely unresponsive, leaving the team to try and save the child's life while the child's father watches on in despair.

Back at the hospital, May is in critical condition, and Athena is struggling to come to terms with what has happened. As the doctors work to save May's life, Athena is forced to confront her own fears and emotions while praying for her daughter's recovery.

As the episode progresses, we see the members of the 118 facing their own personal struggles. Buck struggles to come to terms with his own mortality after a near-death experience, while Chimney struggles with his relationship with Maddie as he tries to give her the time and space she needs. Eddie is facing his own demons, as he struggles to be present for his son while dealing with his own PTSD.

Throughout the episode, we see the 118 work together as a team to save the lives of those in need, but also support each other as they navigate their own personal struggles. The Searchers is a poignant and emotional episode that focuses on the importance of family, both the families we are born into and the ones we choose for ourselves.
