Ep 2. Episode 2

Tony (Ricky Gervais) continues to navigate life without his beloved wife Lisa in episode two of "After Life" season one. As he goes about his daily routine, Tony struggles to find any joy in anything, constantly thinking of ways to end his own life.

At work, Tony's colleagues continue to worry about him, especially his long-time friend Lenny (Tony Way), who is determined to help him through his grief. Meanwhile, Tony's brother-in-law Matt (Tom Basden) uses his position as the editor of the local newspaper to try and give Tony something to look forward to, persuading him to write a column about the town and its inhabitants.

Despite his reluctance, Tony eventually agrees to give it a try. As he begins to interview the people around him, he begins to see that there may be some hope for him yet. One of his interviews leads him to meet Anne (Penelope Wilton), an elderly widow who has her own ways of coping with loss. Despite her own sadness, Anne's positive outlook on life begins to rub off on Tony, giving him a glimmer of hope.

However, not everyone in Tony's life is as supportive. His father (David Bradley) continues to be insensitive, reminding Tony that he still has him and that Lisa was "just a wife", while his therapist (Paul Kaye) seems more interested in getting him to try drugs than truly helping him through his pain.

As the episode comes to a close, Tony must decide whether to continue his column or to give up and succumb to his darkness. Will he find the strength to fight his demons and move forward, or will he decide that life is simply not worth living without Lisa?

With its heartfelt exploration of grief and loss, "After Life" season one episode two offers an honest and poignant portrayal of the human experience. Through the lens of Tony's struggles, viewers are reminded that even in the darkest moments of life, there is always the possibility of finding hope and moving forward.
