Altair: A Record of Battles is an anime series created by MAPPA studios, a production company known for creating acclaimed works such as Yuri on Ice and Attack on Titan. The series is set in a fantasy world inspired by the Ottoman Empire, where different factions are vying for power.

Episode 1, titled The Golden Eagle General, introduces the world of Altair and its main protagonist, Mahmut, a young boy from the Turkiye Stratocracy, who dreams of becoming a Pasha - a high-ranking military officer. Mahmut belongs to a race of people who are descended from eagles, which gives them the ability to fly. However, he has a fear of heights, which holds him back from realizing his dream.

The episode begins with Mahmut receiving a letter from his father, who is a Pasha. The letter instructs him to go to the capital city of Turkiye, Istambul, to represent his hometown at the Divan, a council of Pashas that advises the ruling Sultan on important matters. Mahmut is initially hesitant to go, but his father's letter urges him to overcome his fear of heights and fulfill his duties as a member of their tribe.

Upon arriving in Istambul, Mahmut meets with the other Pashas and learns about the current political situation in the world of Altair. The Balt-Rhein Empire, a powerful, militaristic country, has been expanding its borders and threatening the other nations. The Pashas are called to the Divan to discuss the Balt-Rhein threat and come up with a plan to defend their lands.

Mahmut is then introduced to a young woman named Zehir, who is a spy for the Turkiye Stratocracy. She tells him about a mysterious man known as the Golden Eagle General, who is leading the Balt-Rhein army and is rumored to be invincible in battle. She and Mahmut both agree that the Balt-Rhein Empire must be stopped before it is too late.

The episode then shifts to a battle between the Balt-Rhein army and the forces of the Venedik Trading Company, a neutral nation that is caught in the middle of the conflict. Mahmut watches as the Golden Eagle General, a ruthless warrior with an eagle-like helmet, single-handedly defeats a squad of Venetian soldiers. The General then demands that the Venedik Trading Company surrender and pay tribute to the Balt-Rhein Empire.

Mahmut realizes that he must act quickly to prevent the Balt-Rhein Empire from taking over more territories and endangering his homeland. He devises a plan to sneak into the Balt-Rhein camp disguised as a Venetian messenger. With the help of Zehir, he manages to meet with the Golden Eagle General and present his offer for peace. However, the General is not interested in negotiations and challenges Mahmut to a duel to the death.

The episode ends with Mahmut and the Golden Eagle General engaging in a fierce battle, with the fate of their respective nations hanging in the balance.

Overall, The Golden Eagle General is a well-crafted episode that introduces the audience to the world of Altair and sets up the conflict between the Turkiye Stratocracy and the Balt-Rhein Empire. The animation is stunning, with detailed character designs and impressive battle sequences. The voice acting is also top-notch, with each actor bringing their respective characters to life. The episode also builds up Mahmut's character arc, as he overcomes his fear of heights and faces off against a formidable opponent.
