Shanhai Pass is home to a famous martial arts sect known as Tianji Pavilion. Half a year ago, the sect was attacked by mysterious masked figures, resulting in the deaths of many of its disciples. As Su Jiaxing and Ye Yuan'an arrive in Shanhai Pass, they immediately sense that something is amiss.

The two meet with the leader of Tianji Pavilion, Yin Xuezi, who explains the situation to them. He believes that the masked figures are part of the Phantom Sect, a shadowy organization that has been causing chaos across the land. Yin Xuezi asks Su Jiaxing and Ye Yuan'an to investigate the Phantom Sect and bring them to justice.

They come across a young girl named A'niu, who explains that her village had been attacked by the Phantom Sect as well. She leads them to a hidden cave where survivors of the attack had been hiding.

The survivors reveal that the Phantom Sect had been searching for a sacred artifact known as the Heavenly Book. The book is said to contain powerful secrets and is coveted by many factions across the land. The Phantom Sect believes that the book is hidden somewhere in the village and has been terrorizing its residents in search of it.

As Su Jiaxing and Ye Yuan'an investigate further, they find themselves embroiled in a web of deceit and lies. They soon discover that the village holds more secrets than the Phantom Sect and that the true culprit behind the attacks may be closer than they think.
