In the first episode of Art in the Twenty-First Century season 3, we explore the theme of power through the work of four contemporary artists: Cai Guo-Qiang, Laylah Ali, Krzysztof Wodiczko, and Ida Applebroog.

Lastly, we are introduced to Ida Applebroog, an American artist who uses drawing and photography to explore issues of gender and power. We learn about her project "In the Realm of appearances" and how it critiques societal norms and expectations placed on women. Through her work, Applebroog challenges the viewer to question their own assumptions and biases.

Overall, the episode Power examines the theme of power through the work of four contemporary artists who use their art as a tool to interrogate and subvert dominant power structures, whether they be cultural, political, or social. Through their work, they empower marginalized communities and challenge the viewer to re-examine their own relationship to power.
