In the premiere episode of Backyard Envy, titled "Water, Fire & Fountain Grass," we are introduced to the three hosts of the show - James, Garrett, and Mel - who are all landscape designers based in New York City. Each episode of the show follows the trio as they work to transform their clients' lackluster outdoor spaces into stunning and functional oases.

The first client we meet is a couple named Brian and John, who have a rooftop terrace that is in dire need of a makeover. The space is filled with mismatched furniture, dead plants, and a sad-looking hot tub that no one ever uses. Brian and John are hoping that James, Garrett, and Mel can transform their rooftop into a peaceful retreat that they can enjoy and relax in.

As the three hosts survey the space, they immediately notice a few issues that need to be addressed. First of all, the hot tub needs to go - it's taking up valuable real estate and isn't being used. Second, the space needs some sort of water feature to create a calming atmosphere. And finally, the mismatched furniture needs to be replaced with cohesive pieces that fit the aesthetic of the space.

James takes on the task of designing the new space, and he decides to create a large water feature that will serve as a focal point and help drown out the noise of the city below. He settles on a beautiful fountain with a built-in fire feature, which will create a stunning visual effect at night. In addition to the water feature, James also plans to incorporate large planters filled with grasses and other greenery, which will soften the hard lines of the rooftop and add some much-needed color.

Garrett is in charge of sourcing the new furniture for the space, and he decides to go with a sleek, modern look that will complement the water feature and the city skyline. He chooses a large outdoor sectional with matching chairs, all in a neutral gray tone. He also selects a beautiful coffee table with a unique, geometric shape that adds some visual interest to the space.

Mel's role in the project is to make sure that everything runs smoothly, and she manages to do just that despite some setbacks along the way. One of the biggest challenges comes when the fountain arrives, and it turns out to be much larger than anticipated. But through some clever problem-solving, the trio manages to find a way to make it work without compromising the rest of the design.

Throughout the episode, we get to see the transformation of Brian and John's rooftop terrace, from the demolition of the old hot tub to the installation of the new furniture and water feature. We also get to know the trio of hosts, and their personalities shine through as they work together to create a beautiful outdoor space.

Overall, "Water, Fire & Fountain Grass" is a strong start to the series, and it sets the tone for what we can expect from the rest of the season. The hosts are knowledgeable, talented, and entertaining to watch, and the transformations they are able to achieve are truly impressive. Whether you're a fan of landscape design or just looking for some inspiration for your own outdoor space, Backyard Envy is definitely worth a watch.
