In Backyard Envy season 1 episode 4, titled "Not So Grey Gardens," the Manscapers team takes on a unique project for a client in the exclusive Hamptons community. The client, a prominent fashion designer, has a vision of turning her backyard into a stylish outdoor oasis inspired by the iconic Grey Gardens estate. However, she wants to put her own modern spin on the design.
The team starts by tearing down an old shed and removing trees to create a better flow for the outdoor space. They then install a custom-made fountain and build a new seating area for the designer and her guests to enjoy.
One of the biggest challenges for the Manscapers is incorporating the designer's love of pink into the design without it becoming too overwhelming. They decide to plant pink hydrangeas but add a variety of other foliage to balance out the color and create a cohesive look.
The team also takes on a unique project within the overall design – creating a chicken coop that doubles as a piece of art. They work with a local artist to paint a stunning mural on the coop and use custom-built materials to ensure the chickens have a safe and comfortable home.
As the project nears completion, the Manscapers must deal with some unexpected setbacks. A storm hits the area, causing damage to the new fountain and setting the team back on their timeline. They also encounter some issues with a neighbor who is unhappy with the construction noise.
Despite these challenges, the Manscapers are able to pull off a stunning outdoor space that perfectly reflects the personality and style of their client. The designer is thrilled with the final result and expresses her gratitude to the team for creating a backyard that she can truly enjoy with her family and friends.
