As the title suggests, "A Night at the Opera" takes the cast of Baskets to the theater to experience a live performance of the popular opera Carmen. However, the night at the theater proves to be anything but typical as several interpersonal dramas unfold over the course of the evening.

First up is Ken, who is thrilled to be attending the opera for the first time but quickly becomes frustrated when he can't understand the lyrics. Sure that he's missing out on some vital plot information, Ken eventually decides to improvise his own musical numbers to fill in the gaps. This doesn't go over too well with the rest of the audience, but Ken can't resist the opportunity to take center stage.

Meanwhile, Christine is struggling with her own issues as she tries to balance her newfound interest in insurance adjusting with her duties as a mother. The biggest source of conflict comes when she realizes that she'll have to miss her daughter's school play in order to attend the opera. Christine's guilt is compounded by the fact that her daughter seems to be growing up far too fast, leaving her feeling like she's missing out on important moments of her child's life.

Chip, too, is dealing with his own emotional turmoil over the course of the night. Now working at a rodeo-themed pizza place, Chip has become increasingly dissatisfied with his job and his life in general. He's also still grappling with the fallout from his recent breakup with Penelope, and the fact that he may have lost his chance at true love has left him feeling lost and alone. As the evening progresses, Chip finds himself struggling to keep his emotions in check and avoid a total meltdown.

Rounding out the cast is Martha, who has decided to invite fellow clown M. Jordan to the opera as her date. Things quickly turn sour when M. Jordan becomes an insufferable theater snob, constantly critiquing the production and making Martha feel inadequate. The night quickly turns into a battle of wits as Martha tries to keep up with M. Jordan's intellectual ramblings while still remaining true to herself.

Despite all of the interpersonal tension, the cast manages to get through the opera without any major incidents. However, as they exit the theater and prepare to part ways, it becomes clear that some of the issues raised over the course of the evening won't be so easily resolved. As the episode comes to a close, it's clear that the characters are all struggling to find their place in the world and come to terms with their own personal demons.
