Becker season 4 episode 7, entitled "Hanging with Jake," centers around the unlikely friendship between the curmudgeonly Dr. John Becker and his young neighbor, Jake. When Jake's parents go out of town, he's left in the care of his teenage sister, who's more interested in hanging out with her friends than spending time with her little brother. As a result, Jake spends most of his time alone and bored. That is until he starts hanging out with Becker.

At first, Becker is resistant to spending time with Jake. He's not exactly known for his affectionate nature, especially when it comes to children. But Jake's persistent and charming personality slowly wears Becker down until he agrees to spend some time with him. From there, the two venture out into the city - getting hot dogs from street vendors, playing video games, and even going to a comedy club.

Despite their age difference, the two form an unlikely bond. Jake sees Becker as a role model and someone who's always there for him, while Becker sees Jake as a way to reconnect with his own inner child. The two share plenty of laughs and heart-to-hearts along the way, with Becker imparting some of his own wisdom to Jake about life and the importance of taking risks. In the end, Jake's temporary guardians return home and Becker must say goodbye to his young friend - but not before promising to keep in touch and stay a part of his life.

This episode of Becker showcases the more tender and emotional side of the series, with plenty of heartwarming moments between Becker and Jake. It's a testament to the show's versatility and range - while it's known for its sarcastic humor and witty banter, it's also capable of delivering poignant and touching storylines that will resonate with viewers of all ages.
