In Big Mouth season 2 Episode 5, titled "The Planned Parenthood Show," our beloved preteens are back in action. The episode's title might suggest an overly political or preachy tone, but the show managed to tackle a very sensitive issue with ample humor and wit.

In the fifth episode, the story begins with Nick, Andrew, and Jessi witnessing their classmate Jay's public masturbation at school. This episode is about Jay dealing with the after-effects of his public humiliation, which we witnessed in the previous episode.

"The Planned Parenthood Show" dives into a hilarious but crucial topic - sex ed in schools. School regulations and parental discretion can sometimes deter useful information reaching preteens when they need it the most. The show explores this topic with real purpose and sensitivity.

We see the school's sexual education fair, which they use as a platform to educate students on the benefits of practicing safe sex. But the trio of Nick, Andrew, and Jessi accidentally stumble upon a booth that provides contraceptives. The misadventure lands them in hot waters. Their button noses led the adventure, with a ridiculous amount of mishaps sprinkled along the way.

As usual, the wildly imaginative hormone monsters stick around to add to the preteens' mounting woes. From Jessi's strategic sexual aversion (courtesy of her own hormone monstress) to Nick's desperate hunt for the perfect partner, the hormone monsters prove fascinating characters.

"The Planned Parenthood Show" also jumps into the lives of the school's administrative staff. We see the school counselor, the nurse, and the health teacher trying to find an efficient way to educate students about sex. The series' creators use the characters to highlight the hysteria and misunderstandings that can arise when administrators attempt to deal with sex education in the school system.

Throughout "The Planned Parenthood Show," the series delicately manages to weave humor and seriousness - it's an impressive feat. The episode's aim was to educate preteens about their bodies and the benefits of safe sex. It operates on an admirable directive, addressed with a great deal of sensitivity to the subject matter.

The series leans on their fun-loving characters to create an atmosphere that sparks curiosity amongst preteens without being preachy or insulting. They bring to the fore the crucial importance of conversations about sex at a young age.

In Episode 5 of Big Mouth season 2, the writing and animated visuals complement each other perfectly to highlight the absurdity and fun of sex education. Through different insights, the show manages to reveal that sex education is something that should be enjoyed and not feared.

"The Planned Parenthood Show" proved that Big Mouth is unafraid of exploring sensitive topics. It's exciting to know that a series like this exists, which uses humor to open doors for important conversations and sex education. The show manages to deliver shockingly insightful discussions but remains funny to keep audiences entertained.

Overall, the episode is a wonderful tribute to creating an environment of understanding and awareness around a topic that is often deemed taboo. "The Planned Parenthood Show" sets an excellent precedent for using humor and fun to educate about sensitive matters.
