In the third episode of Black Mirror's fourth season, titled "Crocodile," viewers are taken on a disturbing journey through the minds of two women whose actions have severe consequences. Set in a dystopian future, the episode explores themes of memory, guilt, and morality in a society where technology has reached new heights.

The story is centered around architect Mia Nolan, played by Andrea Riseborough, who is traveling to give a presentation in a self-driving car when she accidentally hits a pedestrian on the road. Rather than reporting the accident, Mia decides to cover up her crime in order to protect her career and reputation. However, things quickly spiral out of control when one of the witnesses to the accident, Rob, played by Andrew Gower, comes back into her life.

Rob is an old acquaintance of Mia's from college, and he is now a musician who has reconnected with her in an attempt to get her to support his band. When Mia realizes that Rob knows about the accident and is blackmailing her, she becomes increasingly desperate to protect her secret, going to extreme lengths to ensure that no one else finds out. In the process, she becomes embroiled in a web of lies and deceit, ultimately leading to devastating consequences for all involved.

Meanwhile, a parallel storyline follows the life of Shazia Akhand, a working mother who works for an insurance company that uses memory recall technology to investigate claims. Shazia is tasked with investigating a claim made by a man named Gino, played by Turlough Convery, who is seeking compensation for a minor accident. However, when Shazia uses the memory recall technology to look into Gino's past, she inadvertently stumbles upon a much more sinister secret.

As the two women's stories converge, "Crocodile" explores the lengths that people will go to in order to protect their own interests, even at the expense of others. While Mia becomes increasingly desperate to cover up her crime, Shazia becomes more and more consumed with her investigation, risking her own safety in the process.

As with other episodes of Black Mirror, "Crocodile" is a thought-provoking and unsettling exploration of the dark side of technology and human nature. The episode asks important questions about the morality of using memory recall technology, the nature of memory itself, and the lengths that people will go to in order to protect their own interests. By the end of the episode, viewers are left with a stark reminder of just how easily our actions can spiral out of control, and how the consequences of our choices can extend far beyond our own lives.
