In episode 12 of season 8 of this hit series, viewers get to witness the stringent measures put in place by the Australian Border Force to prevent drugs from entering the country. The episode kicks off with ABF officials screening a passenger arriving from a flight from Singapore. Upon inspection of her baggage, the officials discover that she has a set of fresh roses mixed in with her clothes. Though it seems innocent at first, the officials quickly discover that there are drugs hidden within the roses petals. An MDMA pill is found inside a rose, while a package of white powder is found inside five other roses. The lady is taken into custody for further interrogation.

The second segment of episode 12 covers another drug haul, this time involving a passenger arriving from South America. The passenger is visibly nervous upon arrival, and the officials decide to subject him to a search. A border control officer scrutinizes the contents of his luggage, and discovers several bottles containing a brown liquid. Upon testing, the liquid turns out to be cocaine, with a street value in Australia of over $500,000. The passenger is swiftly arrested in line with ABF protocols.

In the third segment, the ABF officials on the lookout for illicit drugs shift their focus to international mail. They are alerted to a suspicious parcel that has come from Canada. The parcel is labeled as a scientific sample, but given that it is from an unknown sender, suspicious officials opt to inspect it. Upon opening the package, the officials discover that it contains two glass vials, each filled with a brown liquid substance. A sniffer dog is called in, and after a search of the parcel, the dog signals a positive reaction. The substance is sent to a lab for further analysis, with the results indicating that it contains a synthetic drug.

The fourth and final segment of episode 12 of Border Security: Australia's Front Line revolves around a group of Chinese farm workers who are seeking entry into the country. They face intense scrutiny as border control officials are working hard to prevent the spread of African Swine Fever. Official records indicate that some of the rural areas in China have been experiencing the disease, which is highly contagious and deadly to pigs. The workers can only enter the country if they can prove that they have not been in contact with pigs. A thorough questioning and search of the workers and their belongings is conducted, with those that do not meet the ABF regulations detained for their own safety.
