Ep 4. Crooked and Cracked

In Botched by Nature season 1 episode 4, titled "Crooked and Cracked," plastic surgeons Dr. Paul Nassif and Dr. Terry Dubrow travel to Texas to meet with three individuals seeking their expertise. First, they meet with Laura, who suffered a traumatic injury to her nose while playing softball. The injury left her with a crooked nose, breathing difficulties, and a noticeable bump on her profile. Dr. Nassif determines that Laura's injury resulted in a deviated septum and a fractured nasal bone. He plans to perform a septoplasty to fix her breathing and a rhinoplasty to straighten the appearance of her nose.

Next, the doctors meet with Kurtis, a young man who was born with a congenital disorder called pectus excavatum, which causes the chest to sink inwards. Kurtis has undergone several surgeries to correct the issue, but he is left with significant scars and indentations on his chest. Dr. Dubrow examines Kurtis and determines that he has scar tissue from previous procedures that needs to be removed before they can begin the reconstructive surgery. The doctors plan to insert silicone implants to fill in the indentations and give Kurtis a more normal appearance.

Lastly, Dr. Nassif and Dr. Dubrow meet with Teddi, a mother of two who has had multiple surgeries to correct a cleft lip and palate, which she was born with. However, her surgeries have left her with a noticeable scar above her lip and a misshapen nose. The doctors determine that Teddi's previous surgeries did not adequately address her nasal issues, and they plan to give her a full rhinoplasty to correct the symmetry of her nose and improve the appearance of her scar.

As with any episode of Botched by Nature, there are emotional moments as the patients open up about their struggles and their hopes for the future. The doctors work closely with each patient to understand their unique circumstances and create a personalized plan for improvement. Viewers will see the surgical process in detail, from pre-op consultations to the actual procedures and post-op follow-up appointments. By the end of the episode, each patient will have undergone a transformative experience, with improved appearance and increased confidence.
