Walter White continues his journey down the dark path he has chosen for himself in Breaking Bad season 2 episode 5, "Breakage." As the pressures of his double life as a teacher and a meth cook begin to mount, Walter begins to unravel under the strain.
The episode opens with Walter and Jesse discovering that their supply of the key ingredient they need to produce their methamphetamine has been compromised. While Jesse accuses their distributor of stealing from them, Walter suspects that someone closer to home might be responsible.
As they struggle to make up the lost ground and meet their quotas for their drug lord boss, Walter's personal life begins to unravel. His relationship with his wife Skyler grows more strained, and his son Walt Jr. becomes increasingly distant as he struggles with his own issues.
Meanwhile, Hank, the DEA agent and Walter's brother-in-law, pours all his energy into tracking down a new threat on the streets: a highly skilled and brutal killer who seems to have come out of nowhere. The killer's targets are the drug dealers who work for Walter and his boss, leaving a trail of bodies in his wake.
As the investigation heats up, Walter finds himself caught in the crossfire. He struggles to keep his double life hidden from Hank, while also working to protect his business and his own life from the unknown killer.
Ultimately, "Breakage" is a tense and suspenseful episode that perfectly showcases the series' blend of crime drama and character study. As Walter continues to transform into his evil alter ego, "Heisenberg," viewers are left on the edge of their seats, wondering just how far he is willing to go to protect his empire - and himself.
