Ep 7. Ducks on the Pond

Joanna Chang (Kristin Kreuk), a big city lawyer, has returned to her hometown of Millwood, Manitoba to represent a group of sick girls who were affected by a mysterious illness. In episode seven, titled "Ducks on the Pond," Joanna continues to uncover secrets about the town's past while dealing with the aftermath of her own personal trauma.

After breaking up with her boyfriend, Billy (Peter Mooney), Joanna decides to stay in Millwood a little longer to help solve the case. She learns that the high school was built on a toxic waste dump, and that the current owners of the dump may be responsible for the girls' illnesses. She also discovers that her own father, a former cop in Millwood, may have been involved in covering up the dump's toxic effects.

As the trial approaches, Joanna and Billy work together to uncover more evidence against the dump owners. They are threatened and harassed by the owners' hired thugs, but refuse to back down.

In the end, the trial is dramatic and emotional, with Joanna and Billy facing off against the dump owners' slick lawyer, who uses underhanded tactics to try and win the case. But despite the odds against them, Joanna and Billy manage to expose the truth about the toxic waste dump and win the case for the sick girls.

The episode ends with Joanna and Billy sharing a kiss, hinting at a possible reunion between the two of them.
