The events leading up to and following the amazing real life sacrifice of Czech student Jan Palach are the subject of this haunting drama. Palach sees his family targeted by the Soviet leaders of the recently occupied Czechoslovakia from 1968 onwards, during that time they are represented by a young female lawyer, Dagmar Buresova. Student protester Palach eventually sees his best form of protest to be sacrificing himself by setting himself on fire and committing suicide. The aftermath of his actions are explored and how his fate impacts those around him and the nation as a whole.

Description
