Ep 1. Pilot

Jeff Winger, a former lawyer who was disbarred because of his fake degree, finds himself in a situation where he needs to go back to school in order to get a real degree. He enrolls in Greendale Community College and soon meets a group of eccentric students in his Spanish class. He tries to impress a girl named Britta, who he eventually discovers is his classmate, and pretends to be a Spanish tutor to get closer to her. However, his scheme backfires when the dean of the college, Craig Pelton, finds out about his false credentials and threatens to expel him.

Jeff then decides to recruit his classmates to form a Spanish study group as a way to convince Pelton to let him stay. The group is made up of Britta, Abed, Troy, Pierce, Annie, and Shirley, who are all very different from each other and have their own quirks. As they begin to study, they quickly realize that they have a lot of work to do in order to pass the class. Jeff takes charge of the group and tries to organize their study sessions, but quickly learns that it's not going to be easy to get them all to work together.

Meanwhile, Jeff's former law firm partner, Alan Connor, comes to visit him at the college and tries to convince him to come back to the law firm. Jeff initially considers the offer but ultimately decides that he wants to stay at Greendale and earn his degree.

In the end, the study group comes together and helps each other succeed on their first Spanish quiz. Jeff realizes that he has formed a connection with his classmates and decides to stick around and keep the study group going. The episode ends with the group leaving class together, ready to take on the challenges of college life.
