However, the spell goes wrong and Max ends up with the luck of a black cat, causing him to have an accident-prone day.

Despite the mishaps, Max eventually gets the commercial job thanks to his own talent and perseverance. The other ghosts learn that their actions can have consequences and that sometimes it's better to rely on hard work rather than good luck.
