In Escrow is an episode from season 2 of the dark comedy-drama series Dead Like Me. The show follows a group of grim reapers, also known as "gravelings," who collect the souls of the deceased before they move on to the afterlife. The series stars Ellen Muth as George Lass, a young woman who dies and is recruited into this afterlife job.

In this episode, George's boss Rube (Mandy Patinkin) assigns her to retrieve the soul of a real estate agent named Lane (Amanda Detmer). Lane had been involved in a scandal involving embezzlement and fake real estate transactions and was killed in revenge by a former client.

George discovers that the property Lane had been trying to sell was haunted by the ghost of a young girl named Tina (Adrienne Carter). The ghost believes that her mother, Alice (Laurie Murdoch), was murdered, and she won't rest until she finds the culprit. George decides to help Tina, and they begin to investigate Alice's death.

Meanwhile, George's younger sister Reggie (Britt McKillip) is dealing with her own struggles. Reggie struggles to deal with the fact that her sister is dead, and she starts to act out in school. Reggie's teacher, who turns out to be a former reaper, offers her some guidance and encouragement.

As George and Tina dig deeper into Alice's death, they discover that her ex-husband Richard (David Nykl) was the one responsible for her murder. Richard had been jealous of Alice's lover, who he thought was taking his place in Alice's life. The two men got into a physical altercation, and Richard accidentally killed Alice.

George manages to convince Richard to confess and help Alice's spirit move on to the afterlife. Meanwhile, Tina finally reunites with her mother's ghost, and they both leave for the next phase of existence.

In the end, George learns an important lesson about the value of life. She and Reggie reconcile, and she reflects on the fact that she and her colleagues get to see things that others don't, like the ghosts who are stuck between life and death. She realizes that this is a unique opportunity to help them move on and that it's her duty to do so.

In Escrow is a thought-provoking and poignant episode that highlights the importance of coming to terms with loss and helping others move on. The show's unique blend of comedy and tragedy makes it an emotionally resonant viewing experience. Fans of the series will appreciate the way that this episode expands on the show's mythology while still delivering an engaging and self-contained story.
