Ep 4. Episode 4

During Detectorists season 2 episode 4, titled "Episode 4", Andy and Lance get into an argument about Paul, their rival metal detectorist. The two friends have been trying to find the gold from the Bruce Nugget and they finally find it in a field that Paul had previously searched. Andy wants to tell the world about their find, while Lance would rather keep it between themselves to avoid any conflict with Paul.

Meanwhile, Toni and her bandmate Becky are excited about the upcoming gig at the local pub, but they need a new drummer. They hold auditions and eventually choose a man named Hugh, who seems to fit in well with the group. However, Toni's ex-husband shows up and causes some tension for her and the band.

In addition, Sophie, who works at the local museum, is asked to speak at a metal detecting conference. She struggles with public speaking and asks Andy and Lance for help. They agree and help her prepare for the conference, but things don't go exactly as planned.

The episode also touches upon the strained relationship between Lance and his father, who is in a nursing home. Lance struggles with the guilt of not visiting his father enough, but also has to deal with his father being rude to him during his visits.
