In "Doctor Who" season 11 episode 7, entitled "Kerblam!," the Doctor (Jodie Whittaker) and her companions find themselves on the Kerblam! planet, home to the galaxy's largest retailer. The episode opens with the Doctor receiving a mysterious package containing a fez and a message reading "Help me." Intrigued, she and her team head to Kerblam! to investigate.
Upon arrival, they find a highly advanced, entirely automated facility that can conjure up any item within seconds. The Doctor is impressed by the scale of the operation but becomes increasingly suspicious when she learns that only 10% of the workforce is human and that there is a high mortality rate amongst them. She quickly comes to realize that something sinister is going on behind the scenes.
The Doctor and her team eventually discover that a group of workers is being held hostage by the system. The hostages send a desperate message for help to the Doctor, which eventually leads her to uncover a plot to create a robotic army and overthrow humanity. The Doctor must act fast to prevent the impending attack before it's too late.
As the Doctor tries to unravel the mystery, her companions split up to gather more information. Yaz (Mandip Gill) goes undercover as a Kerblam! employee, while Ryan (Tosin Cole) and Graham (Bradley Walsh) tackle the packaging facility. As the secrets of the Kerblam! operation begin to unravel, the team discovers just how deep and sinister the conspiracy runs.
As the episode progresses, the Doctor and her team get closer and closer to the truth, and the stakes become higher. The Doctor must use all her cunning and intelligence to outsmart the mastermind behind the plot and prevent the attack.
"Kerblam!" is a thought-provoking episode that touches on a number of relevant social issues such as automation, work, and capitalism.
