In season 3 episode 9 of Doctor Who titled "Human Nature," the Doctor and Martha Jones find themselves in England in 1913. In an effort to avoid detection by an alien race known as the Family, the Doctor has transformed himself into a human named John Smith and wiped his memories of being a Time Lord. Martha, posing as his maid, must ensure that the Doctor remains hidden and safe from the Family.

As John Smith, the Doctor has taken up residence at the Farringham School for Boys, where he works as a teacher. He soon catches the eye of the school's matron, Joan Redfern, and the two strike up a friendship. Meanwhile, Martha is forced to endure the discrimination and verbal abuse that comes with her position as a servant.

As the days pass, strange things begin to happen at the school. Students and staff members start disappearing, and an eerie scarecrow seems to be stalking the grounds. The Doctor, still unaware of his true identity, becomes increasingly obsessed with his nightmares of an alien invasion. He confides his fears to Joan and tells her of his dreams of a blue box that can travel through time and space.

The situation comes to a head when the Family finally tracks down the Doctor, forcing him to confront his true identity. With the help of Martha and Joan, the Doctor must come up with a plan to stop the Family's nefarious plans and save the school from destruction.

"Human Nature" is a thrilling and emotional episode that explores the Doctor's humanity and the sacrifices that come with it. The episode also delves into issues of race and class, as Martha must navigate the prejudices of early 20th-century society. The standout performances from David Tennant and Jessica Hynes as Joan Redfern make this episode one of the most memorable and impactful in the series.
