- January 1, 1970
The Doctor and his companions land on an Earth in the not-too-distant future that has been ravaged by a series of earthquakes and volcanic eruptions. They discover that a man named Salamander is responsible for these natural disasters, and he holds the world in his grasp with his control over food supplies.
The Doctor bears a striking resemblance to Salamander, and when he meets officials in charge of the country, they mistakenly believe that he is the villain. The Doctor uses this to his advantage and devises a plan to infiltrate Salamander's inner circle in order to find out more about his plans.
Meanwhile, Jamie and Victoria are taken to a prison camp, where they meet a group of rebels who are fighting against Salamander's regime. They also discover that the real Salamander is actually alive and in hiding, and that the man claiming to be him is an impostor.
As the Doctor gets closer to Salamander, he realizes that there is more to the man than meets the eye. He learns that Salamander's motivations are more complex than simply seeking power, and that he has a secret project that could have devastating consequences for the world.
The Doctor must find a way to stop Salamander before it's too late, while also trying to clear his own name and prove that he is not the villain the world believes him to be.
