In the ninth episode of season six of Doctor Who (2005), titled "Night Terrors," the Doctor and his companions Amy and Rory find themselves in a small council estate in London where strange and terrifying things are happening. The episode begins with a young boy named George being tucked into bed by his parents. However, George is afraid of everything and refuses to sleep. He tells his parents that the dolls in his room are coming to life and talking to him, but they dismiss his fears as childish imagination.

As the night progresses, George's fears seem to become real as the dolls begin to move and speak. His parents are nowhere to be found, and he is trapped in his room with no way out. The Doctor and his companions arrive at the council estate in response to a distress signal from the landlord, who claims that something is wrong with the building. They soon discover that the building is in fact a prison ship that has been stranded on Earth for years and is slowly falling apart.

The Doctor and his companions are separated when they enter the building, and Amy and Rory find themselves trapped in one of the flats. They soon realize that the building is alive and is in fact a giant creature that feeds on fear and has been trapped on Earth for so long that it has gone mad. Meanwhile, the Doctor discovers that George is not a normal child but is in fact a Time Lord who has been stranded on Earth since his regeneration. The Time Lords have been using the prison ship as a cage for dangerous creatures, and George is one of their "projects."

The Doctor manages to free George from his room, but they are pursued by the dolls, who are in fact manifestations of the creature's fear. The Doctor and George find Amy and Rory and they all work together to try and stop the creature, which has now taken over the entire building. They discover that the creature is afraid of its own reflection and that the only way to defeat it is to show it its true form.

They manage to trap the creature in a room and force it to look at itself in the mirror, which makes it disappear. The building returns to its normal state, and George's parents are reunited with him. The Doctor and his companions leave, and the Time Lords arrive to collect their "project." The episode ends with the Doctor wondering whether the Time Lords are truly the "good guys" and whether their actions are justified.

"Night Terrors" is a tense and creepy episode that explores the theme of fear and how it can consume us. The episode is well-paced and features strong performances from the cast, particularly Matt Smith as the Doctor and Daniel Mays as George's father. The special effects are also impressive, particularly the design of the creature and the dolls. Overall, "Night Terrors" is a standout episode of Doctor Who that is sure to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
