In Doom Patrol season 1 episode 6, titled "Doom Patrol Patrol," the team goes on a strange mission to rescue one of their own. Larry Trainor, also known as Negative Man, has been abducted by the Bureau of Normalcy and it's up to the rest of the team to save him.
The episode starts with the team trying to come up with a plan to rescue Larry. They know that the Bureau of Normalcy has him somewhere, but they don't know where. To make matters worse, the Bureau's agents are everywhere and can detect any abnormal activity. This makes it difficult for the team to sneak in and out unnoticed.
After some brainstorming, the team decides to use Jane's abilities as a multiple personality disorder patient to their advantage. Jane is able to switch between her various personalities at will, each with their abilities, and the team thinks they can use this to get past the Bureau's agents.
The team sets out on their mission, with Cliff, Rita, and Jane disguising themselves as Bureau of Normalcy agents, while Vic stays back to monitor their progress. With Jane in control, they easily convince the guards to let them in, and they begin their search for Larry.
As they search, the team encounters some bizarre and unsettling situations. They stumble upon a room filled with dolls, each with the face of one of Jane's personalities. They also find a room with a strange machine that seems to be sucking the life forces out of people.
As they get closer to finding Larry, the Bureau's agents start to catch on to their ruse. They are eventually discovered by the agents and are forced to fight their way out. The team manages to escape with Larry, but not without suffering some injuries.
Back at Doom Manor, the team tends to their wounds and reflects on their mission. They realize that they need to work together more efficiently if they are going to survive in a world that is as dangerous as this one.
The episode ends with a cliffhanger, as the team realizes that they now have a new problem on their hands: the Bureau of Normalcy agents know who they are and where they live, and they will stop at nothing to take them down.
Overall, "Doom Patrol Patrol" is an excellent episode that showcases the strengths of the show's ensemble cast. The episode also manages to balance action and character development, while building up the show's larger mythology. Fans of the show will not be disappointed.
