Dr. Oakley, Yukon Vet season 3 episode 3 titled "Baby Boom" follows the life and work of Dr. Michelle Oakley, a veterinarian who provides medical care to both domestic and wild animals in the rugged and remote terrain of the Yukon.

In this episode, Dr. Oakley faces a busy week with a flurry of newborn animals that need her attention. Her schedule is jam-packed with a pregnant bison, a colt with a problem in its mouth, a complex surgery for a golden eagle, and the birthing of a pack of sled dogs.

The episode begins with Dr. Oakley attending to a pregnant bison at the Yukon Wildlife Preserve. She needs to quickly perform an ultrasound to check on the fetal health of the animal as she wants to ensure that the calf is in the correct position for a natural birth. The bison is a large animal, and it takes a lot of effort for Dr. Oakley to find the right spot to place the ultrasound probe. But she skillfully completes the test, and the results show that the calf is healthy and in the right position. Dr. Oakley advises the staff at the preserve to keep monitoring the bison closely until she gives birth.

Soon after, Dr. Oakley is called to help an owner who has a colt that is experiencing an issue with its mouth. The owner is worried as the colt is unable to eat properly and is losing weight. With her experience, Dr. Oakley expertly looks in the mouth and finds a sharp piece of wood lodged in an unusual spot. She carefully removes it and instructs the owner to give the colt a few days to recover and gain some weight.

Later in the episode, Dr. Oakley heads out to Whitehorse where she is briefed on the complex surgery she is due to perform - on a golden eagle. The bird was found injured, with several deep wounds on one of its wings and has not flown in weeks. Dr. Oakley is informed that the surgery involves using pins to immobilize the broken bones and then careful suturing of the skin. It is a long and intricate process, but Dr. Oakley and her team complete the operation successfully.

Finally, in the last segment of the episode, Dr. Oakley is summoned to help with the birth of a pack of sled dogs. The owners describe how the female dog was overdue beyond the estimate time frame and they were getting anxious. When Dr. Oakley arrives, she observes that the birthing process is taking longer than usual, and there is a high risk of complications. But she and the team work tirelessly and assist in the delivery of all the puppies safely.

Overall, the episode showcases Dr. Oakley's tenacity, compassionate nature, and professional expertise in the field of veterinary medicine. It is a unique and exhilarating viewing experience that highlights the beauty and challenges of the Yukon terrain and the animals that call it home.
