Follow some of the workers of three of the best power companies in Alaska as they face the cold weather, snow and ice. These conditions threaten to keep power knocked out to many of the homes in the state at various times of the year, but the companies do everything they can in order to keep the electricity on, even if it means being away from family. The employees featured in the series take to a competition to see who can install lines the fastest and who can maintain the connections in some of the most extreme conditions, such as blinding snow and torrential ice storms. There are scenes that show the anger of the bosses as they deal with the employees who don't want to take part in the jobs at hand. Viewers can also see how the weather can impact the electrical grid in a way that might not be saved by an electrical company.
