Port Protection is a reality TV series that is produced by Adjacent Productions. It airs on National Geographic channel and premiered in July of 2015. The reality TV series takes place in the remote Alaskan town of Port Protection, which is located on the north shore of Price of Wales Island. Home to only a handful of settlers, the townspeople must rely on each other and their own ingenuity to survive the remoteness and the harsh climate of the Alaskan rain-forests. Daily tasks such as gathering food, fuel, and building shelters become dangerous and tiresome in the landscape of the Alaskan wilderness. Settlers fish for halibut and king salmon during the fishing season to supplement their meager diet. Some of the townspeople try to farm the land and grow crops in the hostile environment. Gathering enough firewood to keep warm in the winter proves to be challenging even for the most hardy settlers in Port Protection. Port Protection gives a glimpse of life in the remote Alaskan frontier towns. Survivalists hunt bears, mink and beaver and depend on one another for survival. The harshness and remoteness of the rain forests force the settlers to live a primitive lifestyle that without cooperation will result in the destruction of the entire fledgling town.
