Dr. Oakley, Yukon Vet is a heartwarming, informative and adventurous reality TV series that takes place in the beautiful remote wilderness of the Yukon. In season 7, episode 6 entitled "Don't Poke A Sleeping Porcupine" Dr. Oakley faces several difficult cases, all while navigating the harsh conditions of the Yukon.

The episode begins with Dr. Oakley and her assistant, Michelle, being called to a nearby ranch where a young horse has suffered an upsetting injury. The horse was bitten by a wolf, and now has a gaping wound on her neck. Dr. Oakley takes a closer look, and despite the severity of the wound, she believes the horse will pull through. She stitches up the wound and administers antibiotics while also advising the farm owner on how to care for the horse during the healing process.

Later on, a local couple brings in their beloved family dog who is experiencing a sudden onset of paralysis in her hind legs. Dr. Oakley diagnoses the issue as a ruptured disk in the dog's spine. The couple is understandably upset, but Dr. Oakley offers guidance and comfort during this stressful time. Together, they decide on surgery as the best course of treatment for the dog.

The next case on Dr. Oakley's docket is one of the most unusual. A worried gentleman comes to the clinic with his young daughter and an unexpected patient- a porcupine that he accidentally ran over with his truck. The porcupine appears to be in a deep sleep, but Dr. Oakley knows better than to assume that it's safe to handle the seemingly docile animal. She carefully examines the quilled critter and determines that all he needs is some time to rest and recover from the shock of the accident. She reminds the father and daughter to always keep their distance from wild animals and to reach out to professionals if they ever find themselves in a similar situation.

The final case of the day is another unique one. A pair of pet ducks are presented to Dr. Oakley with a concerning issue- they are gobbling up each other's feathers! Dr. Oakley knows this behavior to be a sign of stress, so she decides to prescribe some medicine that will calm the ducks. She also recommends that the pet owner create a more peaceful and relaxing environment for the birds.

Throughout the episode, we are given an up-close look at the beauty and challenges of living and working in the remote wilderness of the Yukon. We see firsthand how Dr. Oakley balances her veterinary practice with the demands of her family and the ever-changing climate. Her dedication to her patients and her compassion for their owners are evident in every case she handles. And despite the challenges, Dr. Oakley remains optimistic and driven, always striving to make a positive impact on the animals and people she encounters.

Overall, season 7, episode 6 of Dr. Oakley, Yukon Vet is a must-see for animal lovers and adventure seekers alike. The captivating storytelling, breathtaking scenery, and Dr. Oakley's impressive veterinary skills make for an entertaining and educational viewing experience.
