Ep 1. Pilot

In episode one of the fantasy-comedy series Dwight in Shining Armor, we are introduced to our protagonist, Dwight (played by Sloane Morgan Siegel), a high school student who accidentally wakes up princess Gretta (Caitlin Carmichael) and her loyal knight, Baldric (Joel McCrary), from a thousand-year enchanted sleep by trying on a suit of armor.

Dwight is initially terrified of the situation, but quickly learns that he must step up to protect Gretta and Baldric from the evil sorcerer, Haggar (Danielle Bisutti). As it turns out, Dwight has inadvertently taken on the role of a knight in shining armor, and must use his modern-day skills and technology to help Gretta and Baldric navigate the unfamiliar 21st century while keeping them safe from harm.

Along the way, we are introduced to a cast of quirky supporting characters, including Dwight's best friend, Zeke (Josh Breslow), who is convinced that he is living in a video game, and Gretta's sister, Fuchsia (Vicki Lewis), who has been tasked with guarding the royal family's sacred green bean recipe.

The pilot episode does an excellent job of setting up the series' premise and introducing the main characters. We learn that Dwight is a kind-hearted but somewhat awkward teenager who often struggles with social interactions. Gretta is headstrong and determined, but can also be impulsive and naive at times. Baldric is fiercely loyal to Gretta and deeply committed to his knightly duties, even if that means wearing a suit of armor for hundreds of years.

The episode also establishes the show's unique brand of humor, which blends medieval and modern-day elements to great effect. For example, when Dwight first meets Gretta, he mistakes her for a cosplayer and asks if she's dressed as a Disney princess. Even though Gretta has been asleep for a thousand years, she is quick to adapt to 21st century technology, using a smartphone to take a selfie and marveling at the wonders of fast food.

Overall, the pilot episode of Dwight in Shining Armor is a fun and engaging introduction to a world of knights, princesses, and magic that is unlike anything else on television.
