- April 21, 2020
First Dates (AU) is a popular reality dating show which follows real people on actual first dates at the First Dates restaurant, a stylish and cozy dining venue in Sydney. Season 4 episode 9 of First Dates (AU) is titled "Episode 9" and features a diverse mix of singles looking for love.
At the start of the episode, audiences are introduced to the restaurant's maitre d', who takes us on a tour of the venue and introduces the viewers to the main cast. The diners for the evening are all looking for different things in a partner, and each has their own unique background and story to tell.
The first couple we meet are Brandon and Molly, a pair of young professionals who have never been on a blind date before. Brandon is a charming and charismatic marketing executive who is looking for someone who is smart, funny and independent. Molly is a gorgeous and bubbly law student who has a passion for travel and the arts. Although they seem to hit it off at first, when Brandon questions Molly about her dating history the mood suddenly changes. The tension is palpable as they struggle to find common ground, and eventually, they both agree that they are probably better suited to someone else.
Next up are James and Samantha, a couple with a lot in common, including a shared love of animals. James is a 35-year-old veterinary surgeon who has recently returned to the dating scene after a breakup, while Samantha is a 30-year-old professional dog walker who has been single for far too long. They agree that dating is like a jungle out there and joke about "swiping left" on unsuitable partners. Their conversation flows easily and they seem to be hitting it off until Samantha drops a bombshell – she doesn't want children. James is taken aback and admits that he is looking for a long-term relationship that would eventually lead to a family. Although they have a lot of chemistry, it seems like their differing opinions on having children may be a deal breaker for them.
The third couple of the evening is Aaron and Kristy, an unconventional pairing who seem to be clicking on all cylinders. Aaron is a 38-year-old tattoo artist and muso whose rugged good looks and easy-going personality have attracted plenty of women in the past, while Kristy is a 29-year-old primary school teacher with a passion for fitness and healthy living. They bond over their mutual love of dogs and discuss their goals and dreams for the future. Although Aaron admits that he has a bit of a wild side, Kristy seems to be drawn to his confidence and authenticity. They end the night with a slow dance to a romantic song, and it's clear that they have both enjoyed themselves immensely.
Finally, the episode concludes with a surprise twist as we meet Alan and his blind date… his ex-wife, Michelle! The couple have been separated for several years and haven't seen each other since the breakup. Although they are both nervously anticipating the reunion, there is a palpable sense of excitement as they sit down at the table together. They reminisce about the good times they had in their marriage and discuss the reasons for their eventual split. Despite the past hurt, it's clear that there is still a spark between them and they both express a desire to explore the possibility of rekindling their love.
Overall, episode 9 of First Dates (AU) is an entertaining and heartwarming exploration of the highs and lows of dating. From the excitement of meeting someone new to the disappointment of realizing that you're not compatible, this episode has it all.
