Ep 2. Horizon

In the second episode of Flaked season 1, entitled Horizon, we see the continuation of the story of Chip, a recovering alcoholic and self-proclaimed "guru" of Venice Beach, California. Chip's relationships with his friends and loved ones continue to be strained as he attempts to navigate sobriety and a complicated web of lies and half-truths.

As the episode begins, we find Chip in a state of introspection, gazing out at the horizon and contemplating his role in the lives of those around him. This inner turmoil is further complicated by the arrival of Rose, an attractive new tenant in one of the apartments Chip manages. Despite their history of tensions and resentments, Chip agrees to let Dennis stay in his guesthouse. However, as Dennis continues to push Chip's boundaries and test his patience, their relationship becomes increasingly strained.

As the episode progresses, we see Chip attempting to reconcile his conflicting desires for independence and companionship. He spends time with his "clique" of Venice locals, drinking and socializing, but also finds himself drawn to the peace and quiet of nature. A chance encounter with a hawk in a local park seems to suggest that there may be hope for him yet, if only he can overcome his own self-destructive tendencies.

Overall, Horizon is a reflective and introspective episode that provides a deeper look into the complex and often conflicted world of Flaked's protagonist. As the season unfolds, it remains to be seen whether Chip will be able to overcome his past mistakes and find a path forward that allows him to thrive, rather than simply survive.
