Ep 2. Milk

Barry Allen, a forensic investigator, is still adjusting to his new found super-speed powers as The Flash. In the second episode of the season, "Milk", viewers see that he is still trying to grasp the concept of his powers. He is also trying to still obtain approval from his mentor, Detective West, and his love interest, Iris.

The episode starts off with a robbery at a convenience store. The robbers were trying to steal bottles of highly concentrated chemicals that can be used to make methamphetamines. As they were about to flee, The Flash appears and takes the chemicals away from them. This scene shows viewers that The Flash is becoming more adept at identifying crimes and handling them.

Later in the episode, Allen meets his friend, Cisco Ramon, who is also a member of the S.T.A.R. Labs team. Ramon devises a way to help The Flash function more efficiently, such as the design of his suit and helping him monitor his speed. However, their meeting is abruptly interrupted with the news of another crime involving a milk truck. The stolen truck is filled with bread and other baked goods; however, there's more to the crime than originally thought.

The Flash's first instinct is to catch the thief. However, he soon realizes that there's more to this crime than just a simple robbery. The thief wasn't just a regular thief. He has the ability to turn his skin into steel! He attacks The Flash with his abilities using a hammer.

As The Flash and the rest of the S.T.A.R. Labs team investigate the theft, they come across a likely suspect, Tony Woodward. Viewers learn that Woodward was one of the "cool kids" in school and often bullied Allen. The S.T.A.R. Labs team determines that he gained his powers through a similar accident that gave Allen is super speed powers.

While investigating Woodward, The Flash discovers that not only did Woodward rob the milk delivery truck, he was the one who robbed the convenience store as well, stealing the chemicals that he needs to recharge his powers. Woodward discovers that Allen is the Flash, and he resurfaces to exact revenge on him.

Allen realizes he needs to come up with a new way to stop Woodward. He seeks advice from his mentor, Detective West, who tells him to stop relying on his speed and think about his surroundings to catch Woodward off-guard. In the end, The Flash devises a plan to trap Woodward, leading to his arrest.

Throughout the episode, Allen's relationships with his coworkers, friends and family develop. Viewers see West and Allen's mentor/mentee relationship grow as they help each other navigate through difficult personal issues. Allen also tries to mend his relationship with Iris, who is still in the dark about his powers, but he is not successful.

The second episode of Flash is a blend of action, suspense and great performances from all actors involved. This episode is a great reintroduction to the DC Comics character for audiences. Fans of superhero and action genres will enjoy the fast-paced storytelling and action sequences. It's safe to say that the series is off to a great start, with the first two episodes leaving viewers wanting more.
