Coffee Prince is a South Korean television show that depicts the love story between Choi Han-kyul (Gong Yoo) and Go Eun-chan (Yoon Eun-hye). Han-kyul is a spoiled rich man who has never worked a day in his life until his grandmother (Kim Young-ok) forces him to take over a failing coffee shop. Eun-chan is a young, hard-working tomboy trying to provide for her family. In a series of laughable moments the two meet, but Han-kyul thinks Eun-chan is a man. Han-kyul's family expects him to get married, but he resists. To fend off his family, Han-kyul begins sabotaging his blind dates by having Eun-chan show up and pretend to be his gay lover. The two form a fast and unusual friendship as Han-kyul also hires Eun-chan to work at the coffee shop, all the while still believing she is a man. The show follows another romance, that of Choi Han-seong (Lee Sun-gyun) and Chae Jung-an (Han Yoo-joo). Han-seong is a successful music producer and Han-kyul's cousin, who was previously in a long relationship with Jung-an. When Jung-an returns from New York, she is faced with both her love for Han-seong, whom she resumes her affair with, and her friendship with Han-kyul. As the story progresses, Han-kyul takes over the coffee shop, which he renames Coffee Prince, and transforms it into a popular business. Han-kyul is tormented by his feelings for Eun-chan until learning she is a woman. He falls passionately in love with Eun-chan, yet the controlling Grandmother resists the relationship due to the girl's lower station. Ultimately, love prevails when Grandmother accepts Eun-chan and sends her to Italy in order to become a barista and return to marry Han-kyul.
