Forbidden History Season 1 Episode 4: The Mystery of the Giants

The fourth episode of the first season of Forbidden History delves into the mystery of the giants. For centuries, tales of giants have been recounted in different cultures, from the Bible to ancient Greece, and the existence of giant bones and artifacts have been found all around the world. In this episode, presenter Jamie Theakston investigates the story behind these giants, exploring both the mythological and the factual evidence.

The episode begins by addressing the biblical story of David and Goliath. According to the Old Testament, Goliath was a giant who was killed by the young shepherd David. Theakston examines whether there could have been any truth behind this story, reviewing the accounts of other giant-like figures in ancient Greece and Rome. He also talks to experts in the field of archaeology, who describe their discoveries of uniquely large bones throughout history. These findings prove that the existence of giants was far from being just a myth.

Theakston then travels to Baalbek, Lebanon, where the remains of an ancient temple were built by the Romans on top of an enormous megalithic foundation. The megaliths are so large and intricate that no modern technology could have moved or carved them. Legend has it that the temple was originally built by gods or giants, but evidence shows that it was actually constructed by the Romans. However, the question remains: how did they build on top of such an impressive foundation?

Next, Theakston moves on to ancient Sardinia, where he investigates the giant’s graves. These tombs are often over 3,000 years old and are made up of large stones. Theakston finds the architecture to be so impressive that he explorers whether it was really possible for such a primitive society to have built these massive and intricate tombs by themselves.

The episode also examines the existence of giant skeletons, such as those discovered in Lovelock Caves, Nevada, America. Experts in anthropology and archaeology describe how the skeletons are particularly large, with unusual bone structures. Theakston explores the possibility that they could be the remains of extinct humans or an entirely different species altogether.

Finally, Theakston looks at ancient Persian mythology, including the story of Zahhak. According to the myth, Zahhak was a king who was cursed to be bitten by snakes all over his body. As a result, he possessed two snakes on his shoulders, which he fed with human brains. One day, a boy called Feraydun killed Zahhak and rescued his people from his tyranny. Theakston investigates whether there is any evidence of such a character beyond the myth and if he could have been a giant who fought against the oppression of his people.

Overall, Forbidden History season 1 episode 4 provides insight and exploration into the fascinating world of giants. It investigates both the history and mythology behind their existence and provides various examples of how they have appeared throughout time and in different cultures. Jamie Theakston's investigation creates a compelling narrative, supported by experts in their respective fields. Whether one believes in giants or not, this episode is sure to leave viewers pondering the possibility that the existence of these mythological creatures could be more real than we ever thought.
