In the first episode of the series, titled "Ready, Set, Grow," a group of ten talented florists from across the United States will compete to create stunning floral arrangements for one of the biggest events of the year – the Kentucky Derby.
The show is hosted by celebrity florist and floral couture designer Elizabeth Cronin, and features judges Maurice Harris, Simon Lycett and Elizabeth Cronin herself. This season, the show will take viewers through challenges that range from designing unique arrangements for events like weddings and celebrations to creating stunning floral installations for high-end clients.
In "Ready, Set, Grow," the first challenge is to create a bouquet that will capture the excitement and energy of the Kentucky Derby. The contestants have a limited amount of time to go shopping at a local flower market, and then they must work quickly to produce a bouquet that reflects their unique style and vision.
As soon as they return to the studio, contestants get started on their creations, selecting from a wide variety of flowers, foliage, and other materials to create a visually stunning arrangement. As the minutes tick away, the pressure starts to mount, and each florist must work swiftly and efficiently to complete their arrangement on time.
Once the bouquets are finished, the judges take a close look at each one, examining them from every angle and noting the unique details of each design. They consider factors like color selection, texture, shape, and overall aesthetic appeal, before submitting their final scores.
Throughout the show, viewers get to know each of the contestants better, learning about their backgrounds, their inspiration, and their personal journeys as florists. They also get a behind-the-scenes look at the creative process, as well as the challenges that come with working under tight time constraints and tight budgets. These moments create a deeper connection between the show and the audience as well as inspire the audience who share the love of floral arrangement.
At the end of the episode, one contestant is eliminated, while the other nine continue on to the next challenge. Each week, viewers will be on the edge of their seats as they witness the creativity, passion, and skill of some of America's most talented floral designers.
