In Episode 1 of Garrow's Law, we are introduced to William Garrow, a barrister who is struggling to make a name for himself in 18th-century London. Garrow is not from a wealthy or influential family, which makes his profession difficult and he accepts cases other lawyers wouldn't take.

The episode begins with Garrow representing Joseph Hamer, a thief who has been accused of stealing two silver spoons. Garrow's approach to the case is unconventional. He visits the home of the victim, which is unheard of in a time where lawyers’ worked primarily with limited evidence. However, he discovers a discrepancy in the account of the accuser that helps to save the case for his client.

This causes an uproar in court, with other barristers objecting to his approach. His unconventional methods and desire for justice caused him to become an outcast among other experienced barristers who had never won a case without it being a sure win.

Following this particular case, he met Sarah Hill, a young woman who persuades him to take on her case. Hill is accused of murdering a newborn baby. This case is not only unconventional but is dangerous, given the time period.

Garrow doesn't see the new woman in his life as a client, but instead, he starts to uncover the truth about the circumstances surrounding the murder. As the case proceeds, Garrow's personal relationship with Hill begins to form. Hampering his abilities to stay objective and professional.

Garrow faces reinforced opposition from other barristers who are determined to prove Hill's guilt and discredit his unconventional ways.

While in court, Garrow faced a disadvantage as a lack of forensic evidence, meant that establishing proof was tough. However, with the help of his new friend and physician, Andrew Lyall. Garrow managed to establish the necessary evidence to win the case and save Sarah Hill's life.
