In the third episode of Garrow's Law season 1, audiences are introduced to a case which revolves around the tyranny of the slave trade. As the show is set in 18th century UK, slaves were considered property and this episode highlights the harsh reality of slave ownership.

William Garrow is approached by a woman named Mary Alsop. Mary is looking for someone who can help her get her brother released from slavery. Her brother, John, had been born free but was later abducted and sold as a slave. Mary tells Garrow about the inhumane conditions her brother is living in and how he is being used as a tool for labor and breeding.

Although Garrow is hesitant to take the case at first, he soon realizes the importance of fighting for John's freedom. The case, however, is not straightforward, as the Captain of the slave ship which brought John to England is determined to keep his ‘property'. Garrow finds himself battling against the ruthless pirates, but with the help of his mentor, Mr. Southouse and their shared law chambers, they manage to build a strong enough case to bring the pirates to justice.

Throughout the episode, audiences also get glimpses into Garrow's personal life. In particular, his relationship with Lady Sarah and the challenges it poses. Lady Sarah, who happens to be married, is unable to obtain a divorce from her husband, which means that Garrow and Sarah cannot be together. Despite this, the two continue to strive for a way to be together. This subplot adds another layer to the story and highlights the societal norms of the time.

As the case comes to a close, audiences witness the brutal reality of the slave trade. The trial exposes the dark and inhumane conditions in which the slaves were kept and the vicious disregard for human life by the slave traders. The episode ends with an emotional plea from Mary, as she begs Garrow to do what he can to bring John home.

Overall, Garrow's Law season 1 episode 3 is a powerful and thought-provoking depiction of the injustices of the slave trade. The episode brings a challenging case to light and galvanizes Garrow to fight for the rights of the oppressed. It also highlights the societal norms of the era and demonstrates how love and relationships were viewed. With strong performances from the cast, Garrow's Law season 1 episode 3 is a must-watch for anyone interested in historical dramas.
