In the first episode of the popular Netflix series GLOW, titled "Pilot," we are introduced to a struggling actress named Ruth Wilder (played by Alison Brie). Set in the 1980s, the show follows Ruth as she auditions for a new wrestling show, Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling (GLOW). Despite her lack of experience in wrestling, Ruth is determined to make it and tries to prove herself to the show's director and producer Sam Sylvia (played by Marc Maron).

Ruth's audition doesn't go as planned as she fails to impress Sam, but she still manages to catch his attention with her persistence and eagerness to work hard. Meanwhile, the other women auditioning for the show begin to form their own bonds and rivalries, showcasing the friendships and drama that come along with being part of a wrestling world.

We are also introduced to Debbie Eagan (played by Betty Gilpin), an ex-soap actress and a former friend of Ruth's who is also auditioning for GLOW. The two have a rocky relationship and we learn that Ruth had an affair with Debbie's husband, making things difficult between the two women.

As the episode goes on, we see the women begin to train together and learn the ropes of professional wrestling. They all struggle with their own issues, including learning how to properly execute moves and dealing with psychological barriers. The training is led by Cherry Bang (played by Sydelle Noel), who is also dealing with her own struggles as a black woman in a male-dominated industry.

Despite the various challenges faced by the women, they remain determined to make the show a success. They work tirelessly to perfect their routines, and we can see the bonds between them grow stronger as they become a tight-knit team of fierce wrestlers.

Overall, the first episode of GLOW is a strong start to the series, setting the tone for the rest of the season. It introduces us to the diverse cast of characters and their relationships while offering a glimpse into the world of professional wrestling. The show balances drama and humor exceptionally well, with standout performances from the entire cast. The production value of the show is also impressive, with retro costumes and vibrant neon lighting, transporting the audience back to the 1980s. It's clear from the first episode that GLOW is a show not to be missed.
