Rob is a music obsessive who refuses to grow up. She owns a record store and spends all her time thinking about her Top Five lists of everything from songs to albums, and even the five biggest heartbreaks of her life. When her latest breakup with long-time boyfriend Mac came crashing down, she decides to revisit her Top Five Heartbreaks list, and with the help of her two employees Cherise and Simon, she goes on a journey down memory lane to understand why those heartbreaks happened.

Throughout the episode, we watch as Rob navigates through her history of heartbreak, starting with #5 – Alison Ashworth, her first love. We get a glimpse of their teenage love, how they met through music, and how their relationship ended abruptly. Rob's reminiscing through the music they shared creates an emotional moment for her, setting up the tone for the rest of the episode.

As she moves down her list, she looks back on her past partners including ex-husband Davis, who taught her a valuable lesson on communication, Tom, who introduced her to the joy of mixtapes, and Penny Hardwick, who she almost had an affair with while still with Mac. In examining these relationships, Rob confronts her own flaws and mistakes, and we begin to see her character development.

Meanwhile, Rob's top employee, Cherise, is dealing with her own heartache. She's had a falling out with her musical collaborator, and they're no longer making music together. We see the parallels between Rob and Cherise's struggles with relationships in both their personal and professional lives.

The episode ends with Rob realizing that her current heartbreak with Mac has much to do with her indecisiveness and fear of commitment. She decides to reach out to him, even though she is in a new relationship, to try and heal the damage of their past. Cherise decides to perform a song she wrote in front of her ex-collaborator, showing growth in her own journey.

Overall, the episode is a funny and introspective look at love and heartbreak. It explores the power of music in relationships, and how our past loves shape our present selves. Rob's character is likable and relatable, despite her flaws, and the supporting characters provide a solid foundation throughout the episode. Fans of the original book and movie will be pleased with the TV adaptation, which honors the source material while updating it for a new generation.
