Duncan MacLeod is an immortal who has been alive for over four centuries and has seen and done it all. As a member of a secret society of immortals, he must fight and take the heads of other immortals to gain their power. In Highlander: The Series season 3 episode 2, titled Line of Fire, Duncan is faced with a difficult choice that could change his life forever.
The episode begins with a heist being planned and executed by a group of robbers. They are able to get away with a significant amount of money, but not before a police officer is killed in the process. Duncan is present on the scene and witnesses the event firsthand.

As she and Duncan work together to investigate the crime, their relationship becomes more complicated, and Duncan must decide if he can risk revealing his true identity as an immortal to her.
As the episode progresses, Duncan must navigate his way through the difficult decisions he has to make. He tries to balance his loyalty to his fellow immortals with his desire to do what is right and just. He also tries to protect Anne from harm while still helping Paul escape.
