In Highlander: The Series season 3 episode 6, titled "Courage," Duncan MacLeod finds himself drawn into a dangerous game of cat and mouse as he tries to help an old friend, Father Robert. While making his rounds at a local hospital, Father Robert is assigned to help a terminally ill patient named David Keogh who is suffering from Lou Gehrig's disease. Although Father Robert provides him with emotional support, David fears dying and wishes he could end his own life.
When Father Robert refuses to help him end his life, David turns to a group of activists who advocate for the right to die. The activists, led by a woman named Lara, plan to protest outside the hospital unless Father Robert agrees to help David end his life. Duncan becomes involved when he tries to protect Father Robert from the activists' violent tactics.
As the tension between the activists and the hospital staff escalates, Duncan must use all of his skills to protect Father Robert and prevent the situation from turning deadly. He must also navigate his own conflicted feelings about assisted suicide, knowing that while it may seem like an act of mercy, it raises troubling ethical questions.
Meanwhile, Methos makes a surprise appearance, offering his own perspective on the situation and providing some much-needed comic relief amidst the tension. The episode is filled with action, suspense, and powerful ethical dilemmas that will leave viewers thinking long after the credits roll.
